Aaron Ryals Guru

He's a sage, a philosopher, an intellectual philanderer, an erudite. He cannot be bettered. The only thing dwarfed by his knowledge of bikes, is his knowledge of everything else. If you want a bike, get married or just have a discussion talk to Aaron. If you want an arguement, you want room 12A, just along the corridor.

Chris Berry Sales/Mechanic/Enginerd

Who is overcompensating for something with his Stinky Nine? Who machines their own parts for their bikes? Who looks at a problem, dissects the assemblage to its rudimentary components to find a problem to satisfy only curiosity? Who has lived amongst pygmies and the wild men of Borneo? Who has cut off his own finger to defend the honor of a neighbor’s Labradoodle? Why, that’s our Chris Berry.

Chris Eggen That Guy

Chris loves bikes. Truly, Chris loooovvvvvveeeessssss bikes! He'll show you his if he can. He loves to ride and lives to build. He inhales dirt and breathes out trail. Have you ridden at Blackrock? Chris Owner and International Man of Mystery

Steel. Aluminum. Carbon. Rubber. Chris shouldn’t be allowed in this environment. He is not sane. It is not right. He loves bikes. He rides. Alot. He loves the shop. But despite this enthusiasm he has been exiled. You might catch him. On the road. On the trail. Maybe even lurking around Santiam. If they get a leash on him, he’ll be wrenching at your next tour. Should you see him, seek the assistance of a responsible adult. Administer coffee with caution. Get him talking about bicycling. Everything will be okay….

Dan Shell Mechanic/Trail builder

It is true that Dan earns his living at Santiam. However, chance but once to mention the word trail and he shall regale you to the point of exhaustion of scenes misty and green, about ribbons of dirt carved by his own hand rippling down the mountainside. Deep in the forests of Oregon’s accretionary wedge, amid rocks of columnar basalt, voices whisper to Dan and beckon him outward in any weather to wander with shovel in hand or pedal under foot, or perchance both simultaneously.

Cory Heintz Dude

The Dude loves and hates bikes. The Dude finds cycling necessary to his existence. He enjoys stroking the pavement or trail for a lazy afternoon of pedaling, though not always at his behest, he is always rewarded. However, what he finds most fulfilling are rides when not just bodies, but souls are on the line. The kind of rides where crutches and wheelchairs are needed for days afterward in aid of recovering from the effort. The Dude also believes that bikes will lead to salvation, and getting folks on them is his mission. This pleases the Dude...also a post ride brew.

Dustin Black-Golding-Wellington-Hermiston-Lagrange III Dr.

Don’t be fooled by the laid-back lilt and carefully tousled hair, he punches too, albeit a soft persuasive beating. Dustin is also fond of hugs; he's a complicated man. Dustin knows a thing or two about a thing or two. Dustin races and builds tracks for the ABA. If you are thinking of BMX, nay dreaming and waking up in a sweat, talk to Dustin. He’s got your cure. Be brave and ask questions, but do not doubt his authority. Like I said, he punches. He also likes venti caramel macchiattos.

Felix Mechanic

With over fifteen years of bicycle shop experience Felix draws on a wealth of knowledge he would love to share with you. New to cycling? Have Felix outfit your ride with the latest touring equipment and accessories. Ready to race? Felix can explain how a new set of wheels or even the latest in tires will give you that little edge. Felix is truly passionate about bikes, you won’t find many old-school shop guys who care so much about your cycling experience. ¡Se Habla Espanol!

Graham Owner

Okay, this isn't Graham. But if Graham were a haggard hippie in a '60s peace march this is pretty much how he would have looked. The guy at Santiam who doesn't really look like this guy but could be him if you really squint, that's Graham. And, you can ask him about '60s peace marches, too. -- Submarines once, submarines twice...

Ryan Mechanic and BMX Expert

Don’t be afraid. Ryan is intense. Ryan is edgy. But Ryan brings that energy to the bike shop every day to serve you. Ryan is the hardest working man at Santiam. He gets things done. Knows how to handle a bike, too. Get to know him.

Street JoN Resident Nice Guy

Street John is brimmin’ with old soul. One look into those eyes and you’d see a man who’d seen and done some things. Look a little further into those eyes and you’d find yourself transfixed on 20-inch wheels and tossing off the fetters of all the years and looking at the world in a new way. Could it be the same reality or an alternate? Rest assured he’ll make you a believer and you’ll find yourself swimming through a sea of new lines where you never thought it possible to put a bike. Just try it. Look into those soft, soulful, caring eyes and you’ll see of what I speak. Go one step further and extend friendship and he may bestow upon you the honor of a cup of delicious Yuban coffee, made with robust Arabica beans.

Thom Manager

This is Thom. Thom appears to be a regular guy. Thom seems humble. Thom plays it cool. Don’t be fooled, though. Thom runs the show at Santiam. He is the man. You need it, want it, covet it, thought you couldn’t get it or just plain have to have it now? Talk to Thom. He’s got the power. He knows people. Has connections. Thom runs our business - come see what Thom can do for you

Troy Owner

RIDE, DON’T HIDE! No, it’s not a bad 1950’s horror flick, it’s Troy. The heart and soul of Santiam Bicycle, Troy has traded his wrench for a pick. If you miss him at the shop he’s probably cookin’ up something special out in Granny’s Kitchen. Haven’t visited Granny’s Kitchen? It’s part of the Blackrock Freeride area in Falls City. Find Troy at the shop, or in the woods, he’d love to talk to you about riding. Or digging but actually he'd rather be riding. Hi-Ho!

Gus Shop Mascot

Well, Gus isn't much of a biker or even bike enthusiast. In fact, he has little care for anything at all aside from the greens in his dish. Not by any stretch of the imagination could he clutch a wrench, nor should he be near a bike for fear of being damaged. Nevertheless, there he is ever smiling whether he'd like to or not, be it some cruel curse of the gods or some necessary evolutionary step. Neither reason really matters much, 'cuz a smile goes a long way. And we can all benefit from that.
